Hi all! Welcome to my first ever blog!
I will be honest – I was on the struggle bus when it came to blogging, and I’ve been putting it off for a long time. During this “pause” we are all experiencing I decided this was the time to learn, and step out of my comfort zone. My biggest issues was fear of what to write. I had no idea what I could possibly write about - until I realized my clients have been telling me what to blog about for a long time. I am always asked questions like “how did you make this picture happen? I was there and I had no idea it would turn out like this!” and “where did you find this maternity dress? (the answer will surprise most of you unless you know me well :-)) After questions and comments like that I realized my blog needed to be about the process of taking portraits. The entire process. From the initial wardrobe selections (I style the majority of my shoots), to the transformation with makeup and hair, lighting techniques, posing, and of course the final results. I’ve evolved from “what could I possibly write about” to “I have so much to share with you!”
The stories of my clients are another topic I will be sharing frequently.
In this journey of photographing women I have learned so much about all our shared struggles, our shared power – and how much we really have in common. I love getting to know my clients on a personal level and that contributes so much to the emotion and expressions I am able to capture during the photo shoot.
